About the Cards & Prints

Cards are hand painted on watercolor paper and are mounted on 10 x 15 cm quality card stock. A matching envelope is included.

No two cards will be exactly the same as they are hand painted and therefore each card or print may be slightly different than what you see here.

All cards and prints are individually packed in a cellophane bag.

From Sampler to Cards

During our recent move, I unearthed a piece of silk embroidery from 1996. Inspired by its beauty, I decided to incorporate it into handmade cards.

Once ordered, it will be removed from the page.

Only One Collection

The object of the artist is the creation of the beautiful. What the beautiful is, is another question. - James Joyce

This is a small collection of unique and experimental cards; once ordered, it will be removed from the page.

Inspired by the Pantone Colour of the Year

The Pantone Colour Institute created the Pantone Colour of the Year in 1999. The purpose of this is to engage various communities in a conversation around colour!

It mostly is just one colour with the exception of 2021 when two colours were chosen, namely Ultimate Gray + Illuminating and Rose Quartz & Serenity in 2016.

I started using the Pantone Colour of the Year as inspiration only a few years ago and am sharing a few of my favourite designs in this small collection.

Cards Inspired by Flowers

I love colour and I love flowers! Hans Christian Andersen said "Just living is not enough…one must have sunshine, freedom and a little flower!"

Choose your favourite colour, your favourite flower and let me paint it for you!

Most of the flowers can be painted in the colour of your choice. And it is possible to scale the size to a bigger painting, not just 10x15cm.

Flowers in an uninterrupted line

This small collection of cards is painted by putting colour on the card, and then drawing the flower, stem and leaves in one uninterrupted line. It requires a steady hand, with a little upfront planning to make sure it looks like a flower!

Cupcakes

The history of cupcakes is not that well described; it was first documented in 1796 in Amelia Simmons in the American Cookery book. It gained more popularity again the 19th century, and made a TV appearance in the 20th century.

Who can forget the impact of Sex and the City on the cupcake? Carrie Bradshaw’s character is known best for her love for Manolo Blahniks and cosmopolitans, but her biggest influence most probably was on the humble cupcake that have now been transformed into works of art!

Ladies with Hats

An old favourite collection, making a comeback!

Who doesn’t like to be beautifully dressed?

Monochromatic

The cards in the Monochromatic collection can be sent individually to express your condolences, or group them together in a collage for a modern look in your house.

Old Favourites Making a Return

I am keeping a folder with all previous card designs, and decided to bring a few old favourites back.

South African Travels Inspired

We often travel to South Africa, our country of birth. I am dedicating this section to my inspiration from there. This will be an evolving collection, and may be a scene from a beach, a plant, an old farm cottage, a lonely road to nowhere.
